Problem with Phantasie saving cleared maps

Hi folks,

was hoping someone might know an answer to this one. I am replaying Phantasie again, and for the first half of the game (say the first 2-3 outdoor areas that you have to clear- not the first ones that are already clear) they stayed cleared after I quit and restarted. But now for some reason all the later zones get reset when I quit and come back. I am saving in an inn etc but restarting from a freeze state. Any ideas?
