I've been trying to get these games working with atari emulators to no avail (for some reason my system won't let 6 different kinds of emulator write to an image file no matter what I try) so I thought I'd try the c64 route.
First of all, this is a lovely looking emulator and I'm shocked to see that it's actually updated semi-regularly!(unlike others I've seen) and I'm sure the problem is with me somehow.
For both I do the traditional load"*",8,1 and then RUN but get nothing.
For Wizard's crown I get WIZARD'S CROWN on the screen for half a second, then the drive spins for about 30 secs, reading up sector 18, and then nothing. This happens regardless if I'm using normal boot, fast boot, traditional load, etc.
Even less occurs with Eternal Dagger, in that it loads and then I get a black screen with no apparent activity (though the scroll lock activity light will stay on until the cows come. I've only waited 5 minutes or so).
This happens with W2k SP3 (DX9) and Win98SE.
Help? I'd love to replay these classic old games again but it seems I'm stymied at every turn. I might try the apple ][ version next, but I'm not sure if Eternal Dagger ever got released for it...

I too am having problems with this on various emulators but but but...On Frodo emulator there is an option in the preferences that allows you to enable 1541 emulation style....that does the trick and you can play the game great. Plus Frodo has ability to save snapshot. This allows for multi save and after saving a snapshot you never have to load the game again...just load snap shot from reset screen and you good to go...THIS is real nice when playing Telengard or other unforgiving games as the next few moves are repeated and it allows you to plan exactly how to play. WC is more random so snapshot isnt really a cheat on that game.
Therefore look for an option to make sure 1541 is on with other emulators as well and that may solve the problem.
IMPORTANT: IF you wish to play WC try to head to the old thieves guild lvl 2 asap and look for the emerald key...It is supposed to be in the 5th cell inside the rib cage of a moldering skelly. However I once saw a post that says the resource file is missing on the disk and you cannot reset THAT lvl and hence the emerald key is missing. If you have ever played this game then you know WO that KEY the game is moot. I welcome any and all suggestions on fixing THIS problem. I have a WC program that runs straight up in windows. It was converted to PC format...but alas no eternal dagger PC game and WO having the ability to move on to the sequal WC loses its allure in the PC format.
Finally, WC and ETdag were also done quite well on an apple2e emulator. But all the fooking rom DL sites have been taken offline I cannot find them anymore. And naturally I cannot find my old apple emulator games either...if anyone else has those plz email me.
IF ANYONE has a working WC game where the emerald key is THERE please send it to me....Hell I'll pay $20 via paypal once it is confirmed.
