Keyset help.

I am trying to use keysets in Bubble Bobble to play 2 player. I have edited the input menu to use keyset 1 and Keyset 2 and have redefined the keys so I can use the lefthand side of the keyboard for one player and the righthand keypad for the other player. The player using the keypad has no problem, the keys work fine but when trying to use the keys on the lefthand side of the keyboard, they are never what I defined.
Any suggestions?
