Hello, my suggestion is to allow the user to map joystick button presses into keystrokes. This would be perfect for people who would like to use CCS64 in their arcade cabinets, as many games require the keyboard.
Of course, if your controller board acts as a keyboard, you're all set already, thanks to the CCS64's ability to map any PC key to any C64 one, but for the others this new feature would be crucial.

Re: Map joystick events into keystrokes
I'm a little confused by your request, since you can already emulate Joystick actions (including the Fire button) using Keyboard Key-Sets in CCS64.
Kind regards,

I mean the other way around, that is, I push a button on my USB joypad and CCS64 assumes a key on the keyboard was pressed.

The menu option Options... Input... Define Joystick Special... allows you to map joystick actions/buttons on to anything else (including C64 key-presses, as you have requested).
