Joystick

Post by Shark323 »

Hello,

I have installed a MS Sidewinder Game Pad Pro. Windows tells me that the device is working properly, however i can not get it to work on the commodore 64 games. In the menu / options i have tried the different possibilty,s.

For example:
Control port 1: Joystick
Mode PC Game port 1

Can anybody help me?

Apart from selecting the Joystick as the Input Device to the emulated C64, you also need to Calibrate it within CCS64.
Kind regards,

Stuart,

Can you either describe, or make a YouTube video, explaining how to map a gamepad controller using a C64 emulator (like CCS64)? My son and I use Stella, KAT5200, MAME, Cogwheel, and even MESS as a ColecoVision emulator. But CCS64 seems so primitive, even the V3.8 version, and we can't seem to get it to "see" a basic gamepad controller. The game we are trying to play, Pitfall 2, does show up in CCS64, but the controller doesn't work. I've read the CCS64 manual, and I see:

C64 Joystick Port 1

Key
Up Keypad %
Down Keypad 5
Left Keypad 7
Right Keypad 9
Fire button 1 Right Alt (Alt Gr)

And the following I'd like to map to the controller buttons:
Alt+R Reset (Soft).
Alt+Shft+R Reset (Hard).

But I can't figure out how to do it. How do I tell CCS64 about the above mapping? What example keyboard/gamepad keystrokes, on the Input screen, should I use for "Up", for example?

Thanks so much for any help you can provide!
