Another "I can't remember the name of it" thread

Post by Tyenar »

So I remember a game that was basically a bunch of 2D rooms filled with walls, monsters, energy beam type effects and treasure.

The graphics wern't great, every object could only have 1 color. The character you controlled was white I believe.

The thing I remember most is the customization you could do to the maps you create. Rooms were aranged by a grid pattern and you could put whatever you wanted in each part of the grid, be it a monster or wall or a treasure or a trap. You could make monsters friendly, helpful, or dangerous. You could make them flee the hero or pursue, or have them go in a certian pattern around the room. You had to specify to which room each door went, and you could have fun making a room that the room you exit to wasn't the same you came from. The traps basically looked like energy fields to me. Some started on the left and filled up to the right, others seemed like long beams that went from side to side.

That's all I can remember. I know this is vague, but then again, we are talking 20 years ago. If anyone knows or suspects a game based off of this please let me know.

I've another.

2D vertical scroll. You controlled an airplane or a spaceship. You always started from a cave, that was your HQ. you can fly left and right.
So the game goal was, as I remember, to save little white mens, who standing top of buildings. They only stand and waves their hand, you have to fly next to him, and the return to the cave and land. But in the cave was a way, you should fly through in order to land your HQ, and this 'way' was more and more difficult (longer, thicker).
I can't remember but I think something came very slowly from right which vaporized the environment, the buildings and the mens. It was an UFO, Tsunami? or Lava? I don't know.

Anyone?

Sounds to me like "Protector II". I'm not sure I'm remembering the name correctly, but the game has a UFO that abducts people and drops them into a volcano, so you have to rescue them from atop one set of buildings and place them on another set. You have to be careful passing over the volcano because a lava eruption appears and disappears at random above it. After the UFO can't abduct any more people, the lava flow under the volcano starts expanding in one direction and vaporizing the environment, so you have to rescue the people again and place them in an underground bunker.

I don't recognize the game Tyenar described, though, but now I'm really curious. Can anyone else identify it?

I believe the first game might be Adventure Creator.
