Keyboard controls reversing while in game?

Been playing Legend of Blacksilver and Legacy of the Ancients and noticed an odd problem. I have the keyboard configured so I can move my character up/down/left/right with the cursor keys. But MANY times if I hold the left cursor key, for instance, to walk left or tap it quickly to walk in that direction.... sometimes my on-screen character moves in the exact opposite direction for a few steps then eventually gets back on track with going the way I want it to. Any idea what is causing that?
