Hi,
not really a "usability problem" but... I can't seem to find the download of CCS2 for DOS anywhere.
Has it been retired?
Someone still owns it?
Thanks
andrea

Re: Download of CCS 2
It appears that the downloads for older versions of CCS64 are no longer retained on the server. It has been 'retired', so to speak, since it is so out-of-date, due to technological/software advancements. However, after a bit of looking around, I found the following link for you:
http://noname.c64.org/csdb/getinternalf ... S64DOS.ZIP
Good luck with it! It used to work for me, back in the good old days of MS-DOS, before MS-Windows...

Thanks a lot Stuart, I see your commitment to CCS knows no end
I needed the dos version because I am using an unused laptop (which, incidentally also has 80ish looks), to make a commodore machine out of it.
This means superfast boot thanks to DOS 7.0, which then immediately autoexecs CCS64. Done!
I could have used VICE, whose DOS version is still mantained, but CCS has a big "look and feel" advantage: the c64-styled GUI.

Yes, I like the old Textual menu system aswell; which is faster to use than Windows-style menus, when you get used to it. But that's because I'm a bit 'old school', as they say! Have fun!!!

Re: Download of CCS 2
I just finished installing everything: CCS2 for DOS is great!
The machine is a meager Pentium III 800 mhz from 2002, 128 mb ram, MSDOS 7.0, but until now it ran flawlessly and at 100% speed every game I fed it.
Now, I would take the chance to ask you directions for the final step of my project:
since CCS2 can't "preview" the contents of a given tape and directly launch one of the contained PRGs (as of now I think only VICE does that) - I'd like to split all my tapes into single prg files. Tapclean does that to some extent, but it seems it can't automatically name the prg files.
Any hint?
(Sorry for hijacking the thread...)

I'm not an expert on Tape files. You can't preview the contents of TAP (raw tape) files; but you can preview the contents of T64 (tape image) files, just like D64 (disk image) files. If you have a TAP file and want to split the individual programs within it in to individual PRG files, then that will require a special program, which I am not an expert in, so somebody else may need to advise you. Perhaps try the following programs, which might do what you want, but I've never used them myself:
PRGStarter: http://user.tninet.se/~jad615g/prgstarter/
FinalTAP (recommended): http://www.coder.myby.co.uk/
There is another program, called TAPClean; but I think it is Windows-only.
Good Luck!!!
