Player control issue

Sporadically, the player I control moves (or controls) itself for a period of time, and will not respond to the programmed keyboard controls. The problem seems an emulator issue, independent of the specific game. It apparently doesn't matter what the chosen keyboard configuration is. I'm using Windows Vista but that shouldn't have anything to do with the problem. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Thanks.

Issue resolved. Apparently crosstalk was coming from an undetermined source. If anyone else every experiences this problem, access Menu, select Special and set Joystick Detection to Off.
