C64 Midi Implementation via PC Midi ?

I've been eager to have MIDI emulation implemented - Passport midi was the standard I believe - simple?? as it's just a 6580 serial chip on the expansion port - many other basic in/out midi cartridges were very similar except they put the 6580 at different addresses.

This would allow us to run many programs that worked with midi for recording or for game music output...

Surely this has been suggested before?
