Unmentioned Original Keys

Post by Ages of Inquiry »

My apologies if this is something that has been a topic prior, however I have done extensive searching but to no avail. This is something that is strangely absent from all discussion and CCS64 documentation. I find it very hard to believe. The keys that appeared on the original C64 keyboard, that seem to be altogether absent are the cursor keys.

[CRSR UP/DOWN] and [CRSR LEFT/RIGHT] seem to have no discernible analogues. The contemporary cursor keys are obviously oriented for peripheral input devices for those who lack actual hardware, as well as menu navigation.

Were they omitted completely? This is a huge bit of contention for me. Much appreciation in advance.

Probably you have set a joystick keyset to use the cursor keys. Press Alt/I and check your joystick settings.
Cursor movement should be possible with the normal cursor keys.

It would appear this is a proverbial case of "overlooking the obvious".

Thank you for the reminder, I don't know why I reasoned all my joystick configurations already lacked the cursor keys. I thought that the C64 didn't recognise their input.

Problem fixed. My gratitude, and I hope I don't come off as a bit daft.
