Coloring Bug
This bug can be seen in two games. Grog's Revenge, and MULE. Possibly in others as well
What shoudl be dark gray instead ends up light green. All versions i've tried. VICE gets the color correct.

Play MULE on vice. the landscape is DARK GRAY on white, like it should be.
Now play it on ccs64. it's light green instead.
Play Grog's Revenge. The tires in the lives screen are black and dark grey.Play on ccs64. it's light green instead.
As someone who's played these two games on an ntsc64, I know what the colors are supposed to be.
I'm sorry, it's a bona-fide bug here... i know it's gonna be a bitch to figure this one out too...
I have vague memories of C64S doing this as well back in the day in some versions, getting the color wrong.
i'll try and get some screenshots to prove what's going on.

Well, the light blue is too purple for my taste in PAL mode, and some games (such as Master of the Lamps) absolutely require that the saturation be as hhigh as normal mode (so you can see the blue diamonds).
anyway, it does indeed seem that the problem was that light grey had a green cast to it that isn't easy to notice in the menus, but it's gone now.
That, and pitfall 2 is almost unplayable in PAL mode cause dark grey is too dark in it, and hard to see against black. Both light and dark gray should contrast with each other signifcaltly, and with white and black.

I have been having colour palette problems with CCS64 also. I had been playing "Ultima V" on the PC64Win emulator, which had the colouring perfect - but then I switched to CCS64, and the colours looked very dull. So, I took a few screenshots from both PC64Win and CCS64, took a few notes, and cross-referenced the HTML colour codes in PaintShopPro, to come up with the following code list:
(#) (Colour) (HTML Code)
0 Black 202020
1 White FFFFFF
2 Red B02020
3 Cyan 70FFFF
4 Violet B020B0
5 Green 20B720
6 Dk Blue 2020B0
7 Yellow FFFF20
8 Orange B07020
9 Brown 904720
10 Pink FF7070
11 Dk Grey 707070
12 Grey 909090
13 Lt Green 70FF70
14 Lt Blue 7070FF
15 Lt Grey B0B7B0
After implimenting this colour-scheme into CCS64, the colours look normal.
Cheers,
Atheryn.
