I used various versions of the sound drivers. Two versions of direct X. I used a clean install. And still the popping continues. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next version. Due to the popping I am forced to use Vice instead.

For what it's worth I'm having the same issues with my machine using an Audigy 2 ZS...I've got all of the latest drivers and have constant pops and crackling too...I've tried every concevable setting change in the options to no avail...I guess I'll' try WinVICE next.
Cheers,

I think it is the fault of the sound drivers - Audigy drivers are well-known for crackles/pops.
Kind regards,

It happens with other soundblaster series too, awe32, soundblaster live. So it's not just the Audigy drivers, it's a bug in ccs64 despite of all the "it's not us" talk around here.

No, the AWE32 drivers were also know for crackles/pops. I say again - it's not the fault of CCS64, but the actual sound drivers! Try to get updated sound drivers or try another sound card altogether.
Kind regards,
