Sorry for the problems!
The executables in both the zip- and the install-archive are now (as of May 5th) updated to work as expected with the joystick settings. No version changes this time.
The latest install-package actually do add file associations of .d64 and .t64, it seems that IE8 had ...

Re: Frame rate drops unless I have Firefox open!
Oops, this seems like a quite weird problem. Currently, I really have no precise idea of what is causing it. Surely, I will investige it further in the code, but as I can not repeat the problem on my computer I can not promise a fast solution.

Hardware acceleration has to be turned on!
I have tested to turned off hardware acceleration (set to NONE) on my machine, and then all possible DirectX calls failed. So, I guess that was the problem - Hardware acceleration has to be turned on in order to get CCS64 to work in windowed mode!

I have the same graphics card as well - no problem
This is a very strange problem. I have an ASUS V9180 - GeForce 4 MX 440 AGP graphics card, and I have no problem whatsoever. I have tried with changing the screen resolution, 16 or 32 bits, on Windows XP pro as well as Windows 98 FE - no problems.

Check the resolution/color depth of your Windows desktop!
I think I just found out what might be the problem why some people can not start CCS64 V3.0 in Windowed-mode on non-WinXP systems.
In Windows XP you can only select color depths of at least 65536 colors (i.e. 16 bits). But in Windows 98/ME/2000 you can select 256 colors or less.

Fixed
Thanks for informing me. It is now fixed in the un-official CCS.EXE . I just forgot about that someone would like to run more programs than the C64 emulator at the same time
.

CCS64 V3.0 Beta 1.1 - Multiplay corrected!
I just found some small misstakes in the input message handling, and have hopefully corrected them in the new beta.
Please test the Multiplay feature . So far, it seems I am the only one to test it, haven't seen anybody else on kaillera. I thought the multiplay feature was something really ...

Test with the debug version again
Thanks for testing!
Now I at least know where it crashed, not necessarily why. It crashed because d3d->CreateDevice(...) failed. It might be because when you have voodo gfx gard, you have several gfx adapters (according to DirectX) and some doesn't work with windowed mode.

Debug version of CCS64 V3.0 Beta 1
Unfortunately I haven't been able to track where in the execution of CCS64 that the program crashes (all debug info is removed in the released executable). Therefore I have created a debug version of CCS64 V3.0 , located at http://www.ccs64.com/TestWin.exe .

CCS64 V3.0 - Multiplay with Kaillera partially supported!
I have now added support for the Kaillera client v0.9 in CCS64 V3.0 Beta. The feature is not by any means finished , but it should be possible to multiplay .D64,.T64 and .PRG files with at least two players.
