Thanks for the help. I figured it out last night through an unrelated thread/topic that I saw somewhere else. I had different versions of the game and had tried all the various loading methods, fast and normal. Disabling the maximum speed for the drive was the solution. Played Wasteland til 5am.

I downloaded the latest build of ccs64 and I'm running windows xp on a 2gig cpu machine. I have the game files and I can navigate through the menus to select the disk and either load it manually (load"*",8,1) or try to autoload (fast) load it.
