I downloaded Ultima 1 and got it to run just fine.
I noticed that there were 4 already created characters on the ROM, so I deleted one to make my own character.
Created my new character (named THOR) just fine and entered the game.
Z-stats reveils that I am NOT creating the character I created but playing the one I deleted.
It seems no matter what I do the rom file will not allow me to save or create new characters even though it says save was sucessful.
I searched around the forums and found several ways of saving the actual game...freeze command seems easiest, but nothing to solve the problem of not even being able to create a character.

So if anyone could help me out here it would be great, or maybe supply me with a blank save-able ultima 1 rom that I could create and save my own characters.

Hmmm,
Now I downloaded Ultima 3 and can't get it to work.
Dispersing a party results in garbled text and sound.
Seems some characters are stuck in a party even after dispersed.
All the party text is garbled.

I am obviously doing something wrong with these games, or is this emulator pretty limited in the respects of writing back to the roms?
Is there a better emulator that's more user friendly....?

I am really having a hard time with this, any help would be appreciated.

your problem is you aren't enabling continuous saving in the emulator options.

Also if the disk is read only, then it will be write protected when mounted.
