Hello,
It's been about 20 years since I have played Ultimate WIzard. I have the keyboard set up for WSAD for up,down,left,right and G for fire. I'm only able to cast spells when pressing the fire button and the down key at the same time. I can't recall if this is how the original game was. I tried adjusting the keyboard setting but I keep getting the same results. Another odd thing is that if I change the key settings, the W key becomes a suicide button and automatically kills me. Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks in advance.

Hold fire and press down to cast a spell in the direction of the indicator arrow. That's how the game is supposed to work. Self only spells do not care about the indicator arrows direction.

THey do not have to be simultaneous. the button has to be held firstto make sure you shoot your freeze/fireball/magic missile/enchantment the right way.
