CCS64 3.1 will hang my computer(!) by forcing a 100% load
on my Ghz Pentium system on many new demos.
I did boot a fast and a slow boot, both gave problems.
I used supplied and WinVice 1541 ROMs, both gave problems.
This situation is accompanied by a banner I see:
Maximum 1541 speed
From then on CCS64 hangs and my system stops responding.
It takes a lot of effort to bring up even the task manager
and kill CCS64.

Are you just not waiting long enough, to see if the banner goes away and the game continues? Some games do not like the Maximum 1541 Speed setting, so trying setting this to Off instead. Then, also try Load (Normal), to see if that improves it.

It sounds to me like you've got a corrupt image there or possibly a hard drive problem, since CCS64 should not hang indefinitely, under any circumstances.
