Need help! System keeps pausing!!!!

Hello everyone. My problem is my emulator keeps pausing every 2 seconds. If I go to the blue screen, and hold down my cursor using one of the arrow pads, it will move and then "pause" every couple of seconds. This happens during gameplay as well.
I am using Windows XP Professional. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That sounds like a few things. Is it only for the emulator?

Yes, it is only the emulator.

No, this is the newest version.
Do you resize the window CCS64 is running in? The best is to test it with a normal-size window (Alt-V, set screen mode to Window. If this works good, try Window 2x or various Full-screen modes.
Don't try to resize the window with the mouse, you will loose MUCH performance.

You can press Ctrl/Alt/Delete to launch the task manager. In the tab Processes you can see if there is a process that takes a lot of CPU utilization. Maybe a virusscanner of another resident program that slows down the computer?
Try deleting the C64.CFG file before starting up CCS64. When you start CCS64 then, a new C64.CFG will be automatically created with the default settings. Also change the sound output with Alt/O to anything other than MCI sound device.

Possibly you may need a better graphics card, DirectX 9 compatible.

Ok, I figured out what it was. I had to reset the game controllers in the control panel. There was an old joystick (not connected) and apparently that had something to do with it. So I just removed it from the settings. If anyone else has this problem be sure to check your game ports in your control panel settings.
