The Standing Stones: too much gold bug

Post by Robotron 2084 »

I fondly remember playing this game back in the days.

On CCS and VICE I stumbled upon this GAMEPLAY bug:
Everytime you find gold, the amount is magically multiplied by ten in your inventory, for instance the game tells you "you found 10 gold", but the inventory shows 100 gold.
Since I know this game quite well I know this must be wrong.
It completely ruins any kind of challenge.

Changing roms didnt do any good this time.

Eager to hear from you.
By the way: CCS rules big time!!!

Try downloading another version of the game from somehwere else, e.g. The Magyar C64 HQ:

and re-post back.

Tried 3 different versions on CCS and VICE. The bug remains the same.
Tried the original on the "real thing" and got reassured that it's definitely a bug.

Did you try any of the cracked versions on a real C64, to check that the cracks weren't bad? Did you also try loading the game using LOAD"*",8,1 instead?

I have passed this on to Hakan for investigation...
Kind regards,

I tried the Section 8 crack on my trusty C64.
The gold doesn't get multiplied by ten.
It's a bug! No doubt about it.
Else the game would be way too easy.

Loading with ,8,1 didn't help either on the emu.

Section 8, I used to know a guy in that group. Brings back memories.
When is the C64 gonna make a comeback?! LOL
