how do i format a disk?

I understand how to create a virtual blank disk, but how do i format it?
Reason is im playing Mail Order Monsters and it wants a blank disk for it to format, yet the program seems to have some problem doing it. So im thinking maying if i format it before it will work.
For reference this is what the game tells me to do:
"Do you have an initialized disk?"
I tried creating a blank .d64 and a .g41 and selecting it to no avail.. then i replied no and it said:
"Insert a blank disk Press button when ready."
I then again tried both a blank .d64 and .g41 disks. After i select it and press button it tells me its initializing it (formatting it i assume). But in the end no luck. I keep getting:
"This is not an initialized owner disk. Do you have an initialized owner disk?"
And the loop repeats.
Anyone know whats up?

Like various other RPGs, it needs an especially-patched "blank" disk, as the save-disk. Try the one I have e-mailed you.
Me too

Speaking of Mail Order Monsters, I just downloaded it (plus several other games & CCS64 V 3 ) and am hoping that this site is still "active" enough (not alway the case with these "64" sites) that someone seads this post!
I see some post here regarding "Save Disk" problems and that there is- apparently- a "Magic E-mail" that solves this little problem.
Can I get one too? (Please, please, please!!!! )
Thankyou!

P.S. If this is a problem with "Role Play" type games, will my beloved Below the Root be effected too? Also, I am VERY new to this whole Retro-Game scence, and would like to know how to "format" a "disk", be it through CCS64 or whatever program I need!

I normally go to the Magyar C64 HQ (
http://web.externet.hu/sk/c64/) for game versions, but he is having some ISP problems at the moment...

I'm trying to do the same thing as the others, play this awesome game.. but I can't seem to make a owners disk. Now I searched the net today and found one but it won't save, tells me there is a disk error <or some such thing> I saw other posts on here talking about setting disk saving to continuous and I tried it, it didn't work so I was wondering if you could help me?

Check your e-mail! Also make sure that 1541 Disk Saving is set to Continuously, as per the original C64 machine.

I have sucessfully made an owner disk inside mail order monsters.
The problem is WITH THE CRACKS!
When using an ORIGINAL .G64, and using a .g64 as the data disk, the game WILL properly format it.
I've played bad cracks on my real breadbox and it would FAIL to initialize the owner disk.
NO ONE has cracked this game right. NO ONE. If someone sends me a .d64 that does allow owner disks to be created inside the program, I will pronounce the game cracked. But the .g64 from original WORKS.
0) set saving to continuous
1) create a blank .g64 with any program.
2) Grab a true original disk image in .g64 format. I DO happen to have one of them. It takes ages to boot but does work. (the fastloader makes the protection check extra finicky on this game, and the innacuracies in drive emulation compound this)
3) boot normal the mail order monsters disk
4) start tournament mode
5) when it asks you you have an initialized disk, say no
6) insert the blank .g64
7) press the button.

wait.
It WILL work. Honest to god.

Stuart, could I get that cure-all email too please?

I'd love to be able to play this again in tournament mode.
FYI, I tried to PM you, but got:
"General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]
Field 'message_edit_reason' doesn't have a default value [1364]
An SQL error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact the Board Administrator if this problem persists.
Please notify the board administrator or webmaster: phs@ccs64.com"

Check your e-mail too. It contains an especially-patched D64 file...

Zaphod - Can you send me the your version of the Game and Owner Disk that you use that both work together (I assume they are both G64 files)?
