Red Storm Rising

Hello.
Well, I've been trying to get this game to run on an emulator since I first found out about emulators several years ago.
Now I'm back at it again and hope that somehow, maybe, someone has found a way to make it work.... ?
What happens:
I load disk one and it works like a charm. I get to ID a ship and type a name, select era, submarine, difficulty and so on. Then I get the grey screen with a red disc image on it asking me to switch disk.
What I do then is to press F9 select disk 2 and press F4 (select disc). I get sent back to the grey screen with red disc and I click on go ahead.

So far everything is smooth and seems to work nicely. However when I get to the orders screen it starts to get odd. No order text is displayed only the order heading and after a while the "Press Fire to continue" message.
Ok, I press Fire and get to the screen where I can check sub status and go to general quarters and so on. I select check substatus and come to the weapons loadout screen, I make my choices and "press fire to continue" to come back to the screen where I can select general quarters.
If I do that now all I'll get is a red screen with "Engaging Enemy" message on it and the game stalls.
If I, before selecting general quarters, press F9 and select disc 1 and THEN select general quarters I will come one screen further before the game stalls but it does stall...

Sorry for the long post but this is getting frustrating because Red Storm Rising is the absolutely best game ever for the C64 and I want to play it again...

Sounds like a dodgy crack to me. Does the version on this page also give the same strange behaviour?
http://web.externet.hu/sk/c64/games/r/r.htm

Try also with different Memory Reset Pattern values. Also try with Maximum 1541 Speed OFF. Try also loading the game with Load (Normal) instead of (the deafult) Load (Fast). These can give slightly different behaviours with games.

Thank you for all your tips!
Simply downloading the game from your link was all it took.
The version I had came from http://www.gb64.com and it seems that version is incomplete.
Anyway, Yippeee! Red Storm Rising works for me now!
Thanks a million Stuart! :D
