That would be a kewl and very nice feature!
I would really like this enhancement to be added!

It isn't really practical, nor does add anything to the emulator itself. Nope.

SainT has it, the next WinUAE will have it - why not? I would also like it.

I'll agree that it's not practical, and I'll agree that it's not very useful, and I'll agree that it doesn't really contribute to the emulation... But that's not the point, is it? Nostalgia is the point! Pure and simple, pointless nostalgia! Am I right?

I just tried this feature with the new WinUAE-release. It plain rocks!!!
So much nostalgia! And who needs 1541 800% Turbo Modes if we could listen to the Drive-Sounds? It is a great feature and as long as the drive loads (and you hear the sound) you know that the c64 still loads and hasn“t crashed.
I can only beg you to reconsider and try to implement such a feature, believe me, it changes the way you use an emu totally, it is sooo cool and somehow even "realistic". I love it!

Imagine, if it even simulated the sound of the head moving from track to track, not only the spinning disc.

that's the idea.
it would go "click, click, click" as it jumps from track to track, and if it tied to move aainst the stops it would rattle just like thte real thing. would be very helpful when ebugging cracking work on the emulator so it's not a useless feature.

I agree too, it would be nice to hear sound from 1541 drive...!!!!

This subject is totally confusing me

When would the sounds play? And how could the actual sound be emulated?

Hi!
It would play everytime 1541 drive is accessed for an operation.
We could hear 1541 noise while initializing or loading blocks.
You know 1541 drive like cn2 tape is totally controlled by c64 unit processor, so this could be possible to implement.
Someone I don't remember said here that you can try amiga emulator WinUae to feel what that option looks like.
The result is amazing and you can feel more life in the c64 emulator!!

I would probaly say that such unneccesary code could interfere with gameplay.

As somebody don' t start trying, won't know if this is right.
In WinUae this function doesn't affect at all on emulation.

Rubbish!

Hearing the old 1541 sounds would add immensely to the emulation, IMO. I love the floppy sounds in WinUAE -- they really add to the whole Amiga experience. Would love to hear the 1541 sounds again too.
