joystick and keyboard

Hi,
Sorry to bother you again but I've tried just about everything I can think of to get either of these working. The program works flawlesssly and I can get the games to run in it but I can't get either the keyboard or joystick to work. I've tried changing input for just about every setting and I know that it recognizes my joystick because it will calibrate it, but when I try to play either joystick or keyboard nothing works. I am using ver.3.5 and trying to play the game MULE. I have 2 different versions of it and neither works. Please help me...
