No joy with my joystick.

Probably a bit daft but I thought I could buy a Commodore joystick (Competition Pro - by Kempston I think), plug it into COM Port 2 of my pc, tinker with the Input Options on my CCS64 emulator and that would be it. But, Ive done all the above and cant get my joystick to work. I dont have a gameport on my PC, just USB ports and two COM ports. Ive been on the 'net and found references to various drivers and handmade adaptors that may be required but all that just scares me! Is there anything simple I could do that doesnt require soldering?!!!
Thanks

You need special joystick drivers.

Many thanks. Have installed the drivers but still no joy. Do I need to create a Virtual Joystick then set the Mapping as it just doesnt pick up my joystick movements... The guy who wrote PPJoy says he is unaware a joystick could be connected to the COM port which seems strange.

How has anyone else done it?

Sorry, I'm a bit dim. :?
Thanks
James

You can not plug a C64 joystick into the com port of your PC.
You need this:

Ok - so the joystick goes on e-bay!

I take it if I purchase a joystick with a Gameport fitting then I'll be a happy bunny as CCS64 automatically works with joysticks connected to the gameport, yes?
Thanks
