games: how do you interface with the intro/menu screens??

Hi.

I;ve installed v3 on winXP. Emulator runs fine. Games boot fine.

But I;ve tried running 3 games so far (Lemmings, Nebulus and Fort Apocalypse :: all downloaded from c64.com) and in every case I can;t proceed beyond the game intro/menu screen.
I;ve tried every keyboard input I can think of (space bar, every joystick input available, every numeric key, every function key) but there just doesn;t seem to be any workable user interface on any of these intro screens. How do you toggle and select on the menu interface? At least I would like some way to select the "play game" option - that would be nice!!!
Very frustrating that I can get this close but no potatoe. Can anyone relieve me of my apparent stupidity please???

I just tried Fort Apocalypse. Press control port 2 fire button or the key set to act as fire button to start the game.

Maybe you just tried with control port 1. Switch your settings from control port 1 to 2 quickly by pressing Alt with F10.
