The Last Ninja - Crashing/Keyboard ctrls are changing

Hi,

I am playing the triad version of The Last Ninja for the emulator (Last Ninja, the [Side A_Triad].d64)

I have the following keyset config chosen:

Direction - Arrow Keys
Diagonal - K L < >
Fire - X
Choose weapon - Space
Choose item - F3 F4 F5


The problem I am having is firstly, when choosing the inifinite lives options before the game starts, it is not possible to navigate on this menu using the arrow keys. To get to the "start game" option, I need to press "Tab & Q" keys together to scroll down. Any idea why the arrow keys don't work for this menu?

Secondly, once I am into the game everything is fine for the first level or two, then when it gets to the 3rd or 4th level, for some reason the "Choose Item" keys no longer work, instead they take on new functions like "game speed" and "freeze shot" etc.

From here on, it is no longer possible to switch between items, and if I press F4, which I was using to change items up until these levels, it will now cause the emulator to close completely.

As it stands like this, it is not possible to progress any further in the game without being able to choose new items.

Can anyone advise on whether a new keyset is required or what can be done to sort this out?

If you only get this problem with that particular version of that game, then obviously it is a corrupt version; in that case, you will need to download a different copy of that game from somewhere else.

Also, which keyboard are you using?

hi,

just using a compaq presario laptop keyboard..the other version of the game i have is Last Ninja, the [Side A_CCS].d64 but unfortunately it doesn't have the infinite lives option the other one does and i'm not going thru the same pain i went thru in the 80's with 3 lives..

Inifinite lives???? Why even play it at all. The game wasn't that hard to beat.
