please help: odd cursor behviour!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by bosone »

i have a very strange problem that i noticed now on my ccs64 emulator:
the keyboards arrows, that i'm using to navigate thorugh the menu, behaves in a very strange and odd way!!
i'm in the menu, or in the c64 screen (in where you can move the cursor with the 4 PC keyboard arrows)
if i press just once the down, up, left, right arrow button (and release them immediately) the cursor moves not only by 1 position, but:
it moves by 1 position, then waits for a fraction of seconds, and then it moves consecutively by other 6 or 7 positions!!!!!!

this makes te menu completely unusable, since i cannot "scroll" by just one position....
i also noticed that the behaviour is correct if i press the "alt" with the arrows buttons....

please note that in winXP SP1 the keys are working absolutely normally!!!

i recently changed my mother board (asus p4c533-e deluxe) and i absolutely don't remember if this problem arose immediately after the MoBo change or after some time (i was several months since i changed my MoBo and i don't remember the last time i started CCS64)..

to make things even more absolutely strange, i tested ccs64 ver 2, ver 3, the VICE emulator and the cursor keys behaiur is always the same regardless of which emulator i'm using!!!!!!

what should i do!?!?!?

thanks!!

It sounds like some hardware problem affecting the keyboard behaviour. Which keyboard are you using? Have you tried different drivers? What happens if you use a standard keyboard and a standard Windows driver? The menu behaviour was fixed in CCS64 V3.0 BETA Official.
Kind regards,

i'm very sad!! :-(

Some of these wireless keyboards need special drivers, due to their extra functionality etc. Anyway, at least you can work-around the problem, and it is not a bug in CCS64.

To cover the obvious, is it possible that it's a low battery or low connection issue? Does this happen only within C64 emulators, or is it system-wide?

Yeah, make sure the device is in Discovery Mode as well.
When is the C64 gonna make a comeback?! LOL
