TAP audio output, real tape loading and TAP utility

Post by koseidon72 »

Hi, it would be nice if you implement audio output during TAP loading.
It would be also usefull to implement real TAPE loading from c64s cable.

At least but not last, would be great to have a sort of TAP manager, to cut, add, move blocks from a file TAP to another. (it exists for spectrum and it' s very useful)

Hope you think those would be interesting feauture to add..

Thanks

This is already done - the C2N Noise option in the Special... menu. Set the SID Volume to high first!!! See my instructions below:

You can listen to the tape drive noise that would be generated whilst loading raw-tape (TAP) files. This can be fun or just help pass the time away! Simply perform the following steps:
- Set the SID volume to the maximum. Type POKE 54296,15.
- Issue the BASIC LOAD command. Type LOAD.
- Select the desired raw-tape (TAP) file.

You are right!!!
Thanks for helping me!

But why isn't implemented something that directly make this possible wi thout the poke?
Infact before, I've tried that option without success.. Didn't know about the POKE instruction.

What about the other questions?
About real tape loading or TAP editor utility?
Do you think that are these (expecially the first) difficult to implement?

Thanks

The C2N Noise option was implemented recently by Hakan. Also, there is other good software for dealing with hardware communication via cables and TAP conversion/cleaning already, so Hakan hasn't added those sorts of features into the emulator, since people use a variety of different pieces of hardware/software for different reasons.

Ok, but it would be easier to use something in pure windows instead of DOS. The great utility that works with c64s cable works only in PURE DOS enviroment.

Hope to see enanchements to the CN2 TAPE noise emulation in next emu releases.. Also because many tapes during loading "reset" that POKE value and so noise stops without reason...I have some examples if you need.
